:used to say that when you are in a foreign country, or a situation you are not familiar with, you should behave in the way that the people around you behave

:used to say that you should not form an opinion about somebody/something from their appearance only
見た目で判断してはいけない(本の表紙を見て、中身を決めてはいけない)

:used to advise somebody to think about the possible results or dangers of something before doing it
石橋を叩いて渡れ、念には念を、飛ぶ前にしっかり見よ
▶︎「leap」は「飛んで移動する」動詞です。

頑張ってね、幸運を祈るよ
▶︎不吉に聞こえますが、これで「パフォーマンスなどに入る前にかける、幸運を祈る言葉」です。
▶︎主に演劇界などで使われていた言葉のようですが、別に今は「Good luck!」の意味で、プレゼンやスポーツなど、あらゆる場面で使われています。

:used to comfort somebody whose romantic relationship has ended by saying that there are many other people with whom they may have a successful relationship in the future
海には沢山魚がいる、他にもっと沢山いい人がいるよ
▶︎恋人との関係が終わり、落ち込んでいる人に対して使う、励ましの言葉
Ex) Don’t worry, there are plenty of fish in the sea.

:to tell a secret carelessly or by mistake
うっかりと秘密を漏らしてしまうこと
▶︎その昔、市場で子豚を袋に入れて売っていた時代、ずるい売り手は子豚の代わりに猫を入れたりしていました。しかしその袋から猫が出てきて、秘密がバレてしまうことがあったことから、このイディオムができたようです。
Ex) I wanted it to be a surprise, but my daughter let the cat out of the bag.

:if you have a change of heart, your attitude towards something changes, usually making you feel more friendly, helpful, etc.
気が変わる、心変わりする
Ex) I was going to get married, but I had a change of heart.

:to enjoy yourself a lot
大いに楽しむ
▶︎この場合の「ball」は「舞踏会」の意味になります。
Ex) They had a ball at the party.
